Everything You Have Ever Needed to Know About Storage

Drive-Up Storage Unit in St. Albert

There’s a lot to consider when renting a storage unit. What storage unit size is best for you? Do you need climate control? What am I allowed to keep in storage, and how easy will it be to access? These are all items to consider, and with so many different options available, it can be a challenge to narrow down your search to the perfect unit.

We have put together a brief guide on some of the common concerns and solutions we see while people are deciding to rent a storage unit.

Common Reasons For Needing a Storage Unit

There are many reasons people need to utilize a storage unit; here are some of the most common:

MOVING

Sometimes the timeline when moving from one place to another does not perfectly line up. Maybe the sale of your home went through more quickly than you could purchase another, so you will need a place to store your belongings in the meantime.

STORING A VEHICLE

Extra cars, project cars, boats, and RVs are all able to be stored with us so you can clear up some space in the garage. RV Storage or Vehicle Storage you can trust.

MILITARY FAMILIES

If you are in the military, you know that you will be moved from base to base every couple of years. Some of these moves will be short-term, and families do not want to pack up all of their belongings, so they leave them with us.

DECLUTTERING

If you are someone with too much stuff and not enough space in your home, a storage unit may be necessary. We see a lot of people store their winter items in a unit during the summer and their summer items during the winter to free up space in their homes.

What to Look for in a Storage Facility

There are so many storage facilities, and it seems like a new one is popping up every other week! While looking at them from the outside, it may seem like they are all the same. There are still some things you should look for when deciding which facility would be best for you.

CLEANLINESS

Have you ever heard horror stories of dirty storage units and facilities? We have, and we go out of our way to make sure none of our clients ever have to experience anything like them. While we can’t control what the inside of a unit looks like once someone has moved their belongings in, we can make sure the rest of the facility is nice and tidy.

SECURITY

Keeping your belongings safe is of utmost importance, so security should be a consideration when choosing where to store your things. You never know when you will need to access your unit, so it is wise to look for a facility that is well-lit and has on-site security or cameras 24 hours per day.

LOCATION

Do you need a place close to your home? Maybe you prefer it to be closer to your work? You will need to decide how and when you plan to use your storage unit to decide what part of town you prefer the unit to be in.

PRICE

Possibly the most important aspect in choosing a storage facility is the price. There are many factors that go into our pricing, which include facility location, storage unit size, amenities like climate control, and so forth. Determining a budget and knowing how much space you will need will help you make the decision of what facility to use.

Storage Unit Access Types

OUTDOOR DRIVE UP ACCESS

Drive up storage units are extremely popular due to their easy access and lower prices. They are similar to garages where you can drive up, put your belongings inside, and drive away knowing that they will be kept safe.

INDOOR ACCESS

Indoor storage units are located inside a building and are climate-controlled. This is an option to consider if you have items such as antique furniture or artwork that would be damaged if exposed to extreme temperatures.

DIFFERENT SIZED UNITS

Storage does not have a one-size fits all solution. We offer units as small as 13 square feet which will hold collectibles or small furniture and some boxes all the way up to units that are 10x30 and can fit a large vehicle. Regardless of how much you need to store, we will have a unit for you.

Are There Limits To What I Can And Cannot Keep In My Unit?

You’re able to store almost anything in a storage unit, but of course, there are some exceptions of items that should never be stored in a storage unit. Basically, anything illegal or dangerous is not allowed to be stored in our facility. If you have an item you are unsure about, just ask. A manager will look at the risks and determine whether that is something we can store for you.
